C H E L S I E N U N N: Artist Statement 2011

Scientists are mapping the human brain. Connectomes, neural pathways, and brain circuitry are now visible in ways never before seen. Leading edge technology is blazing the trail to a fully developed map of the brain. With this new information, scientists may be able to achieve countless feats in neural medicine.

I am mapping human thought. Deadlines, songs, and eggs in a bowl are now visible in ways never before seen. Leading edge art processes are blazing the trail to a fully developed map of thought. With this new information, I may be able to achieve countless feats in metacognitive painting.

Together, science and art may construct a map of the brain that depicts neural pathways and the thoughts that travel them through color, form, and space. Let us make connections from thought to thought, brain to brain!
